On the other hand, no more having to pay for health insurance or out of pocket costs so it should even out. And people wouldn't be forced to stay at shitty jobs just to keep their employer provided insurance so people would have much more freedom in that sense.
Do you know what that sounds like? The same kinda talk that said "We should just let the Govt buy in bulk for all of us. That way we'd get a massive discount on prices." HOW has that worked out over the past few decades?
I see people sit in their same 'shitty jobs' for many reasons. Mostly because they prefer the comfort of the known. With the private insurance system people are paying thousands of dollars to a middle man and they still might not get covered when they need it. That has to be the least efficient system but the wealthy are making a profit from it so it's good.

Wealthy people from all over the planet come here for healthcare. It must be good for something.
And the Bernie Sanders of the world will never tell people the truth about how high their taxes would need to go to get UHC here.

Hey! It's the best system for rich people, so stop complaining about the riff-raff! You know Abbey would be the world's first trillionaire if it wasn't for all the rabble he pays for!

And as the years have passed, the Govt has gotten more and more involved. So wha happened?
I thought it was called the AFFORDABLE Care Act?

14 yrs after Sanger left, what was her group became Planned Parenthood (in 1942) The can't use tax dollars for abortion. They use it for pap smears & breast exams & cancer screening. They do have male patients for cancer screening, etc.
And people on welfare can't abuse the benefit. And politicians can't take bribes. And priests & teachers can't F kids.
Let's be real for once. The Govt has been successful at getting almost everyone on the take. That's part of the reason the Debt is OK and nobody will ever actually sacrifice to get rid of it.
People can't use food stamps for alcohol. Does that mean no one on welfare drinks alcohol? You know how the Bishop's Store avoids it? They give out food like a food bank. The Relief Society lady visits the home. Marks thd list of what the person needs. The person goes to the storehouse to get the items marked on the order.

You know those food stamps just frees up their own money for more alcohol. Or they sell the stamps for 50 cents on the dollar, like forever.
I've said for years it should be food staples only. Food that you pick up at a nearby grocer and have to prepare. THAT's the only acceptable food program we should allow. imo

That's $12,000 per day. What kind of utterly stupid healthcare system do you have over there? You shouldn't be bitching about the mother; you should be bitching about the disgusting unregulated heealthcare system that allows capitalist companies to completely abuse monopoly situations in such an appalling way.

It's illegal to complain in the UK?
Of course you can't actually defend our healthcare system so you post this idiotic non sequitur instead.
Wealthy people from all over the planet come here for healthcare. It must be good for something. Yes, it's good for something - wealthy people. Great, just what a healthcare system should be. Of course they would be high - because you have profiteering companies throughout your healthcare system ripping people off for 12,000 a day. That's absolutely ridiculous. You need to sort that out and then the tax increase would barely be noticeable. It's fundamentally wrong that you have capitalists given free-rein in a monopoly situation - that is such idiotic government management. And where do you think that 12,000 a day Medicaid money comes from - thin air? No, TAXES. You are already paying that in taxes, so if you got rid of those disgusting profiteers and put in UHC, you might even find that your taxes would come down.

Do they have profiteering companies in Canada and the UK? Americans do not understand the difference in Tax Rates
That healthcare over there AIN'T free by any stretch of the imagination

That healthcare over there AIN'T free by any stretch of the imagination I can't speak for Canada. In the UK, we have two healthcare options - NHS or private. The NHS is government-controlled and the bulk of it does not have private companies involved. It is a huge public-sector employer meaning it can cover the vast bulk of treatments by itself. There may be some specialist procedures which are outsourced but it is price-controlled and the patient does not pay extra. In the private healthcare sector, they are private companies but they charge reasonable prices because they know they will get nowhere with ridiculous costs like 12,000 a day as the NHS is right there in competition with them to ensure they make sensible decisions with their pricing.

They get away with that $12K/Day pricing because insurance or the Govt picks up much of the tab.........or it all gets written off as a Loss. Hence, the ridiculous prices you see aren't actually usually being paid by anyone.
Nowhere in that post did you mention what the typical UK working person pays as a percentage of their income for that 'free' healthcare, though.

It's somebody's place to dictate when the person has got their hand out.
If you ever end up in an old folks home on the public dime, you'll find out real quick how limited your choices will become. It should be that way for the younger folks on welfare, as well.

When you give someone a gift, do you retain control over what the recipient does with that gift? If you give someone a picture to hang on the wall, can you dictate where they hang it in their home? Once you gift anything, its not longer yours.

so now all those welfare programs are 'Gifts' in your mind?
When I give a gift, it's a voluntary act. That's not how welfare gets paid for.
this popped up on FB this morning
see? I ain't alone
