Because every board needs a thread on this subject.

Very long story short: Someone sings three Cole Porter songs in the movie Sleuth (1972). We never see the singer, we just hear his voice on the radio. While the renditions sound ’30s, they were probably made recorded for this movie. Lots of people like these renditions, but no one on earth seems to have any idea who the singer is/was.

A Redditor messaged me wondering if I’d made any progress on this (nope), so I’m thinking of this mystery again.

Sad news, by the way: I just found out that former Sleuth singer suspect David Kernan (a really good Sondheim interpreter) died on Dec. 26. (A bit eerily, a few days before his death I was watching him in the TV adaptation of the great Bock and Harnick musical She Loves Me.)
