What do you make of this fellow's story? What do gay people in general and gay Christians in particular make of it? www.becketcook.com/bio

He may have stopped engaging in homosexuality, but his sexual attraction to men isn’t something turned off easily. How many celibate, straight male priests lose their sexual attraction to women. They can train themselves to not act on it, but it never goes away.

Well, according to his website and an article he wrote in a Christian magazine, he says the day he learned from Christians in a public Bible study and from the Bible itself that homosexuality is a sin -- BOOM -- instantly no longer gay.

Every preacher must have a story, something they overcame with the help of the Lord. Usually it's drugs, gang activity, petty crime, fishing, collecting taxes and persecuting Christians, sex addiction, but homosexuality fits the bill.
When I was a teenager, we had this older preacher that told stories about his gang days and I didn't think much of it. Then one day everyone is at his house and he waves me over, all secretive, takes me into this room and opens a wood trunk. Inside was all his gang stuff and right on top was a Thompson .45 full auto and a bunch of ammo. There were leather jackets, switchblade knives, motorcycle chain belt, all this stuff from when he was in a gang back in the 40s-50s. It was a trip.

So turning from any of these is only unique to the Christian experience? But the point this guy seems to be making is that as soon as he heard and read in the Bible that homosexuality is a sin, he stopped being gay cold turkey. Is that possible, normal, usual?

I doubt if there were a God or Goddess they would much care what one solitary person does with their bits and pieces.

Usual to lie? Yes. People lie all the time. Especially narcissists. And who gets up in front of crowds to put on a show... narcissists. Is it possible to just stop being gay? Doubtful. Do men just stop liking big boobs, or a big ass, or fit girls, or blondes? I first saw Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman when I was 7, and didn't know what sex was, but I wanted Lynda Carter like I wanted a new toy for xmas and that hasn't changed. So I doubt gays just quit the D.

So I doubt gays just quit the D. Good points. I've considered that it's very possible he's lying. After all, who can disprove his story if there's nothing to disprove and there are no former partners to indeed corroborate that he's no longer having sex with them, unless he has "former partners and witnesses" who are also lying. This sounds highly unbelievable and suspect.

According to the Bible, so is eating bacon. "...the day he learned ... that bacon is a sin -- BOOM -- instantly no longer gay." Bacon cures homosexuality? It would only work for Jews and Muslims, eating bacon isn't a sin for Gentiles, according to Paul's teachings.

According to how sins work, there isn’t one that’s worse than the other since any one of them can send you hell for all eternity.
