Would we still be so quick to point our fingers at others?

What are fingers made for, if not for pointing?
Okay maybe picking, but apart from picking, what are fingers made for?

Would we still be so quick to point our fingers at others? Treating each other as if they were Jesus himself is what he told his followers to do. How do you know you’ve not spoken to Jesus already? Maybe on this very board. Matthew 25:35 When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me, 36 and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me.”
37 Then the ones who pleased the Lord will ask, “When did we give you something to eat or drink? 38 When did we welcome you as a stranger or give you clothes to wear 39 or visit you while you were sick or in jail?”
40 The king will answer, “Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me.”

"On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you." John 14:20 You’re saying Jesus has already knocked on your door and you recognized him in face of the needy stranger? That is a parable. The Bible is mostly parable and allegory. The reason why is because those things convey a meaning that doesn't get lost in translation and transcends spoken language. If you can interpret it correctly, then you get the true meaning of the parables. Too many people take those stories literally.

Shouldn’t be taken literally?

The Stoics believed the gods were in all things, including every mortal. The Epicureans believed they were separate from this world entirely. The ignorant hoi palloi believed they were like super humans literally sitting on top of Mt Olympus bickering and fucking.
I kind of like the ignorant version.

There was a crucifixion and a resurrection, but it's not what most people think.

Shouldn’t be taken literally? if I may, the esoteric Christian teaching is that we all have to die and be reborn into the faith to grow. To be clear here I am not talking about an adult baptism and becoming a born again Christian, I am talking about a death of the materially focused person and a rebirth into a spiritual being. The teaching is that it does not matter if Jesus existed or not, or if what is described happened to him, rather that what is described is a analogy of the spiritual path we must take. This of course allies with the idea that all religions hold some truths, as there are so many religions that have the basic jesus myth.
