The 1980's has more hit songs than any other decade that don't make no sense.
I'm saying, as far as hit songs go that don't make sense lyrically, the 80's has more than any other decade.
But, not judging by hit songs that they still play to this today. I'm talking about hit songs that they no longer play. In other words, obscure hit songs.
Which by the way, helps make that decade of music good. Sometimes it's good to have songs that make no sense.
And, I would not rule out drugs as being one of the key factors for this possible fact. Considering this was a decade when everybody did drugs.
Which is of course a good thing.

You don't make sense unless you give some examples or a statistical analysis. Do you mean Bohemian Rhapsody? Or Walk Like an Egyptian?

Those are examples above. There is one other example, song called shiny shiny.
However the correct way to listen to that song, is to type in : just can't get enough new wave hits of the 1980's volume 11. Which is a cd but the whole album is on youtube.
And then don't watch the videos, but only listen to the songs. Therefore just turn the contrast down to zero. So that you will only hear them.

Very difficult to listen to any 80's albums as such a huge amount were ruined by new digital toys that producers became obsessed with. I can happily spend the rest of my life without hearing another gated reverb snare. Such a pity as there are so many classic albums hiding being so much faddish production tools.

Name me a decade where nobody did drugs.
