The story so far.
Brittany Higgins and Bruce Luhrmann were Australian government minister staffers. In 2019 they went drinking and decided to go back to parliament house to christen the ministers desk?
Brittany was so drunk she passed out naked on a sofa in the Ministers office.
The next year she was interviewed by Channell 10, claiming rape, without naming names.
Bruce Luhrmann was charged with rape.
After the jury was chosen and before the trial started thd journalist was giving a speech at an awards ceremony and said You Go Girl. Girl power. This did not please the judge. Halfway through the trial a juror admitted he was doing his own sleuthing. The judge declared a mistrial and the police gave up, saying a "He said She said" trial was a dead duck.
Bruce Luhrmann then sued Channell 10 and the journalist for defamation. I'm not guilty of rape!
Oops, bad mistake. The judge gave his decision today.
There was no defamation because it was all true. He was a rapist.
But Luhrmann, Higgins and the journalist were all liars, they couldnt lie straight in bed.
It looks like if Luhrmann has a car or a house the lawyers will want them, and his budding law career has taken a tumble.
