Once upon a time I left my job at Kramerica Industries for a new one at Vandelay Industries, importing/exporting latex. A few years ago I quit my job at Vandelay to take a promotion at Kramerica that they didn't want to give me the first time around. Today I found out my boss at Vandelay is gone and they're advertising his position.
I don't really want to go back to selling latex, but the opportunity is also too funny to pass up. Especially if it's done out of spite. Should I just yoyo back and forth forever until someone makes me CEO? I really need to give this some thought and ask myself What Would George Costanza Do?
PS - The names, business descriptions, job titles, time frames, and the Easter Bunny aren't real but the scenario is.
PPS - I will abide by the results if this poll if it lines up with what I actually feel like doing on any given day

Your resume will look bad with all the hopping back and forth. I'm probably too conservative, tend to stay on jobs like 10+ years, but I say stay at Kramerica.

Usually 2 years is the minimum you want to stay to avoid looking like too much of a mercenary and 5 is considered a safe amount of time. Any more than that and you're probably leaving a lot of money on the table unless you get internal promotions. I just interviewed for one of those but I know I'm not getting it unless they've they've got a really shitty list to choose from.

I like to stay in one place. I should've been more cutthroat I suppose.
