Tobacco.
No redeeming features.
You can even find a positive in guns and pharms.
But tobacco? Nothing.

Worst industry...
1) Coal
2) Steel
With the new equipment and technology it takes a crew or 10 people, 8 hours to produce enough coal to power an entire city for over a month. With today's technology it takes 1 man, 14 work hours to produce enough steel to build a sky scraper.
See there, you only created 11 jobs per big city. What are the other million and a half people going to do for a living?

Science. It’s the propaganda arm for other industries including tobacco. Worse liars than journalists. You should see the stuff that comes out of it. It’s so off the wall outlandish that even the journalists actually have to play down the crazy for them. Half of what they do is PR water carrying to protect “public trust”. It’s just a confidence game. Yet unlike tobacco it still has respectability.

But that’s just the nature of the beast. It’s government and science that enable that bad behavior, with subsidies, incentives, liability, licensure, etc... Is it worse than natural gas fracking by Big Oil? Global warming says we have to drink fracking fluid for the good of the earth, but if not for regulations concerning depreciation and modernization, couldn’t we just put new scrubbers on old coal smokestacks?
