Some very strange-looking things, indeed.

Some very strange-looking things, indeed. Interesting, but I'm not sure I feel safe in a world where fighter pilots say "dude" a lot.

Interesting, but I'm not sure I feel safe in a world where fighter pilots say "dude" a lot. The 'hang loose' surfer gesture with the thumb and pinky finger is all but a mandatory hand sign between US aircrews and ground crew - not even kidding. So chill, bro. Literally the only reason you are safe, irrespective of whether you feel safe, is because of those guys (and gals) and their dads. RAF got to help, some.

With the American reputation for "friendly fire" pity our troops aren't so safe.

With the American reputation for "friendly fire" pity our troops aren't so safe. Well, you know what they say - if you want something done right.... As far as reputations go, I guess you have a point that we could take a cue from the RAF about. Have your finest hour in 1940, then retire to a ceremonial role and rest on your laurels, let others do the messy work of untangling the tatters of empire.

No tatters to untangle, old boy, all ship-shape and Bristol fashion.

Wonder what the USAF was doing to help save the world from the scourge of Nazism in 1940.

Top two Brit complaints about US military policy: 1) Too much intervention in foreign wars, and 2) Didn't intervene soon enough in certain foreign wars
