Coffee method - run hot water through coffee powder in a filter.
Result: piss-weak coffee.
Tea method - allow tea to sit in hot water for 10 minutes.
Result: over-stewed and bitter tea.
Now swap the methods around and you have perfection.

Do they sell bags of coffee in Britland? I think someone tried to launch coffee bags like tea bags - to put in the cup - but people were too conditioned to accept it. |

The thing to do is to get hold of a 500 cc coffee cafetiere. Add two heaped tablespoons of Lavazza coffee and boiling water, stir, pour through a small flour sieve, add single cream and there you are.
There should be enough for one and a third cups. So put the remaining third to one side for the next batch and the coffee grounds on the flower beds.

Grind your beans, shove the powder in, add off-boiling water and let it sit for 10 minutes. Pour with small sieve, like you say. Best coffee ever, much better than these stupid machines that cost hundreds. |

A doctors office I used to go to used to have Folgers coffee in little paper bags wrapped in aluminum foil with a little string and cardboard tag for dipping in hot water.
It was almost comparable to what my espresso machine with it's reusable metal filter produces.
However, no matter how you package it, instant coffee crystals will always be second best to what a good coffee maker with coffee grounds can produce.
You should try using a Keurig machine, it turns out the best coffee every time. A little toy in my new doctor's office, here in Texas doctor's offices always have the best coffee. They always seem to know which varieties of coffee are the best.

Grinding the coffee beans by hand and then heating it in a pan over a campfire made with forest kindling is not something to be sought after.
Those methods and values were used by the poorest of Americans back in the 1970's and 1980's nobody does that any more. Not even the most poverty stricken of Americans.
