Looks like breaking international law may be more about getting powers back from the devolved UK governments. At the moment, if the UK were to allow lower US standards, then Scotland, Wales and NI could refuse to. They could also impose tarriffs on English meat if they felt their own farmers were at a disadvantage in any way and undercut English prices. None of this was an issue when we all had to abide by European standards but with Brexit this all changes. Now Westminster needs to get control back of all devolved farming policy making or face chaos.
