My maternal grandfather served in the trenches in WW1.
My mother was born in 1932.
My grandfather got shot while in the trenches - the bullet hit him in the side of the face, going through one cheek and out of the other.
Here is the thought:
If the person who fired that bullet had shot four inches to the right, hitting his cerebellum, I would not exist.
That is an unusual thing to contemplate.
