What do they do (wrong) in Virginia? They barely salt the roads. And they don’t have the right plowing trucks to efficiently move the snow. I don't believe New Orleans even has any snowplows.

It snowed at my apartment for about ten minutes. It didn't stick to the ground though. Historically, it snows here about once every ten years. If it sticks to the ground, it won't last 24 hours. We have never needed snowplows. It rarely goes below freezing down here. If it does, it won't last more than four hours. As I said before, we don't even have insulated pipes. When it goes below freezing, we have to run the water so the pipes don't freeze and break.

it looks like a cis gendered proto-human, hairless and vulnerable, engaged in relaxing beach meditation. Maybe that's what he looks like.

It is a freezing cold 24 degrees F in Dallas. At least it isn't snowing, yet...
New Years night it dropped to a scary 17 degrees where I am at.

Older homes in this region were not designed for temperatures below 40 degrees. So anything below freezing causes some concern whereas a heater has to be placed near the back garage door so that the pipes don't freeze. That heater has to be periodically checked to make sure that it doesn't burn the house down. What sort of genius places the main water pipes for the whole house 14 inches away from a north facing back garage door?

Maybe when they built those homes they didn't know yet about weather and it's affect on plumbing. Every year around the country, during the winter, fires are caused by space heaters. It is no different here in New Orleans.

It is so cold up north that cups of coffee in some northern states are freezing solid faster than people can drink them. www.nytimes.com/2017/12/28/us/winter-weather-erie-cold.htmlLOL, guess they never heard of the "Mpemba effect"... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mpemba_effectThat hot liquids freeze faster than cool liquids. So don't try to drink your hot coffee while standing around out in the ice and snow, do it indoors. You can actually freeze to death trying to drink hot coffee out in the extreme cold. Actually a room temperature soda pop will keep you warmer in extreme cold weather. Strange but true... The subject of thermodynamics can be very interesting. Sort of like how I prop up a sheet of plastic between the back garage door and the washing machine to help keep the pipes from freezing. The plastic doesn't melt even when the electric heater is almost blowing directly on it because of the cold breeze blowing across the other side of the plastic. Some cold air leaks from around the stainless steel back garage door, can't be helped because the expansion and contraction rates for the metal door and the wood door frame are different. So it still leaks cold air in the winter pretty much no matter what you do.
