I hope they don't cave to this nonsense. Do you think that Robinsons should have kept the "Golliwogs"? Times do change. I would have thought that a desperately macho place like Oz would have suffered bad sales from the name anyway.

Plus, hijacking a word does not give you exclusive ownership rights. The twit who started the petition wants to impose his will (i.e. deny others the use of a word) because that is what the world seems to be doing these days - i.e. a 'minority first' approach.

The thing is that Social Media makes a news story these days. Any idiot can create a petition or funding page and then get a story created. It's lazy and cheap journalism and the chase for clickbait that has changed things. The media effectively creates the news rather than reports it, mostly based on one or two idiots posts. It's what Hux was always doing, thinking a moron on twitter was reflective of anything other than a few people desperate to be offended.
