I have my own favorite girls: Your countrywoman K. J. Bishop is sublime. I like early Kameron Hurley and there is this new brilliant author Tamsyn Muir. Thanks. I'll look them up. I didn't know it until a couple of years ago, but Andre Norton was a girl, and she changed her name when she was published. All that time I thought she was a guy. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I first found out about it.

For an Australian, it could be worth your while to look up Sean McMullen. He has a series where an alien species rings the planet with electricity-zapping lasers to stop our never ending wars. A thousand years later we have invented analogues, including a building full of human computers to do without electricity.

Actually, I terribly biased against Australian science fiction of any description. I generally avoid it like the plague. I just can't... "buy into it".

My most read authors are Robert Silverberg and Robert Charles Wilson. Aside from them I like Olaf Stapledon who I've read quite a few from but doesn't have all that many books, and Isaac Asimov who I've enjoyed few overall but gotten much enjoyment from the ones I like. I've been looking for a female author who I like many books from but so far I've liked Le Guin's Lathe of Heaven and Octavia E. Butler's Kindred. I've enjoyed some books from Arthur C. Clarke and Phillip K. Dick. Heinlein I enjoyed Tunnel in the Sky and Starship Troopers but Stranger in a Strange Land was a total farce.
