I can't say that I have been following the matter over closely, other than that the Russian Bear is threatening the gallant little Ukraine. And the other point that Joe Biden's now has a disapproval rating in double figures. At such times US presidents tend to try to boost their popularity with foreign adventures, so is Joe likely to send the 7th Fleet up the Dnieper river to defend Kiev or will he just have an afternoon nap and forget about it?

The thing is that the US is incapable of thinking rationally about anything related to Russia, they do anything in their power to undermine that country. Ukraine is even playing it cool at the moment, the US is exacerbating things by interfering. Also, it's simply the facts that Russia and China are emerging superpowers, and the US and Britain empires are on the decline. I don't approve of what Putin is doing, but it isn't anything that the West hasn't done before, even as recently as 20 years ago with the Middle Eastern wars.
Another thing, where is the indignation and threats when Israel unlawfully grabs more and more Palestinian land?

The U.S. won't create a military conflict with Russia. I am on record as saying that the U.S. will send troops to Syria if Washington needs a war.

Europe needs to be proactive with sanction threats, not wait until it happens then do it. Germany are being particularly gutless, they should have said immediately that Nord Stream 2 would be cancelled if any invasion happens. Same with us and the amount of Russian money in London, we should be threatening to kick them out of the world banking mechanisms if they invade. so much Russian money goes to the Tory party that you begin to wonder if they are scared to do anything.

Forget threats, just do it anyway. Not a country we should be giving money to for anything.

The Conservatives really do get a lot of their donations from Russia though, Can't see them cracking down on it. A lot comes from the wives of friends of Putin (that way it's not directly linked)

Would have happened by now if that's what the Kremlin really wanted.

Would have happened by now if that's what the Kremlin really wanted. Maybe, probably looking for a way out without losing face. They could go to war because they feel they have no choice. Stranger things have happened.

Stranger things have happened. They are not unreasonable and things in Russia are not that bad. I have a fair amount of both Russian and Ukrainian friends on Facebook and so far it doesn't feel like they take it too seriously.
