Can't talk about the Royal family, can't call liars liars. Absolutely ridiculous.

What is the "Palace of Varieties"? Westminster. I only see a book. Is that what they call Westminster?

Not sure what the 'varieties' link is but this week in the Houses of Parliament (the overall building being known as the Palace of Westminster), the speaker has rebuked one MP for referring to the royal family and another for pretty much calling Boris Johnson a liar. These are, apparently, not allowed in the chambers.

So it seems (Q1) and I'm not sure (Q2) - I think it was news to most people who don't work there.

It's always been the case that the Royal family keep out of politics and Parliament doesn't comment on the Royals. A tradition more than a "rule". As for calling someone a liar, An MP will be asked to retract if he calls someone another MP a liar, if he refuses he is kicked out for that day's session. as Boris is such a bad and permanent liar MPs have been trying to get around the rule be reporting that their constituents are calling him a liar (rather than them saying it), but the Speaker of the house has got tired of the ruse and is clamping down.

What is the "Palace of Varieties"? The Leeds Hall of Varieties.
The girls would stand there in their birthday suits, not allowed to move. Not particularly erotic but Millie is easily pleased.

Can't talk about the Royal family, can't call liars liars. Absolutely ridiculous. I agree. There's just not enough variety up in there.
