Solved that one on every shot. The last one you posted took me one fail. Blocking the King's escape with the Rook made sense once I puzzled it out a bit, but the amount of time it took me would annoy anybody playing chess against me.

The longest game I've played over the board lasted over 4 hours. And I won that because the other player didn't know they can promote their pawn to a Queen. I thought it was really strange they were doing nothing with their pass pawn, especially considering I was so worried about that.

I'm dreadfully slow at the end game if it comes to it and it's even on who can gain control. Not so great at middle game, either, speed-wise. Unless I'm just looking to plow out your coverage. If you give me a stumper, I'm going to sit there and think about it. Four hours though, wow.

Another one of my friends was there and suggested we use the clock. If I known I would have went for that. I had a worse position but that's because I was playing it like a rapid game but there was no time control. I won because I was more principled and I understood the game. He even offered a draw before I checkmated him.

I did play a lot in elementary school but I quit after I went on a losing streak. I wish I didn't have that mentality back then, it's why I quit wrestling too. I had problems back then and losing in anything really bothered me. I watched this video from Ben Feingold on why people don't improve in Chess and he's right, I quit when I started losing. So I just been sticking it out and I've improved in rapid games going from 500 in October to almost being 1,000 elo now. I just felt like I had to explain that, I could beat anyone on the street but I'm not a good player. I just felt like I needed to explain that. I was told to work on my endgames before I bother with openings. Right now, I'm reading José Capablanca's Chess Fundamentals, and there is stuff on principles you should have in an opening. I also been going through Dorian Rogozenco's Eight Good Men on the last Candidates Tournament for fun. And if you're interested I'll try to play The Ruy Lopez or The French Defense, but of course we don't always get to play what we want. This is what Chess.com says: Clearly, I haven't played it very many times. I'm looking at the position and just getting my knight out looks like it makes the most sense, Black went g6 to fianchetto his bishop and attack my pawn on d4. I just have to fall back on Chess principles because I don't know openings. And the last game I won in this opening is funny because I won on time. www.chess.com/game/live/48673208503

I've never much cared for speed play, myself. Mainly because I lose.
