Which one is you? The handsome one. You've let yourself go.

You've let yourself go. That's a funny little racquet he's got.

I was at the gym about 10 years ago and witnessed some middle-aged guy (he was fat) die of a heart attack after a squash match. Lesson of the story: squash can kill. Indeed - my other buddy gets his heart rate to 180 regularly when we play. That's dangerous, right? I’m no doctor, but...... I’ve got no idea.

We had a disagreement about a point. I said it was this, he said it was that. Reasonable enough. When I suggested we void that game, he started ranting that I was being smug because I was thrashing him (it was 3 games to 1 to me) and he worked himself up so much he got his stuff and walked off. After a few minutes, I decided to go for a piss and he was there in the changing rooms. I went up to him and said "truce?" and he mumbled "going to get some fresh air" and walked out. What the fuck? It's just a game.

Is it more likely to get hit in the nads by the racket or the ball? Ball in the nads is very unlikely as you're supposed to face the front wall and the opponent will either be in front of you, level with you or behind you - in all cases, they're not going to hit your front side. You might get hit in the face if you're looking around to see what they're doing - some wear eye protection for this reason, although it's never happened to me (had to flinch a couple of times though). I've been hit in the back by the ball a few times - stings a lot for a minute or so. Or the back of the legs - that really stings. And I've nearly whacked others around the head with an overly enthusiastic racquet swing when they've been close. All in all, injury is infrequent - it's exhaustion that'll get you.
