Or is this all just a media ploy, a little misdirection to throw everyone off guard?
I have no doubt they will cruise to the SB, but is the era coming to an end after this? Does Belichick even have feelings to get hurt?

Does Belichick even have feelings to get hurt? Only one team can stop them. That team is the Steelers. IMO the referees gave the game to the Pats in the regular season. If they meet again in the playoffs Steelers 24 Pats 17.

I think its a little of both.
Short term, Bill Belichick has no feelings to hurt, but this will allows him to "play the victim" with the team and make them feel like underdogs, as if theyre being attacked, and get them all psyched up.
Long term, I think its the end of the Patriots dynasty to give away Garoppolo, I watched the guy play against Jacksonville on Christmas Eve and damn he can play some football. Brady has two years in him, at the most, they needed a replacement ready to take over for him and they had it, now they have nothing. Can Belichick find a worthy young QB in the draft and develop him into a monster? Tough to do, good QBs don't grown on trees.
I do believe most of what Seth Wickersham says though, its the only thing that makes sense out of the known facts.
