I laughed a lot at the bit where he went bouncing down the stairs. That went on for so long I doubt it was meant to be taken seriously. And I loved the bit where it goes top down like a video game. One bit when he was half way down you could see he was coming to a stop and the stunt man deliberately through himself down the next flight. I'll have to rewatch that bit. Although I enjoyed the film I was disappointed that it didn't build on the homeless vs illuminati war the third one sort of hinted at. The Paris sewer scenes showed a missed opportunity and I'd have appreciated more.

JOHN WICK CHAPTER 4 doesn’t justify its length, but it presents the best cinematography and production design of the franchise. Up until now, my issue with the overarching story was that the emotional component got lost over time. It went from being a revenge story to a simple “I’ll try to not get killed” story. The title character doesn’t have a new motivation in this sequel, but the history he shares with certain characters is emphasized a lot more, which is why some of the dramatic scenes are effective. Is this installment better or worse than CHAPTER 3 when it comes to the ridiculousness? It’s hard to say. On the one hand, the moments that cross the line of believability are fewer, because the first two thirds of the running time contain brief time jumps. That makes it easier for me to believe that John can recover from his injuries. On the other hand, the aforementioned moments are dumber and harder to forget. The last third is when John and a couple of his enemies practically become immortal. Not to mention a scene that takes place at a roundabout on a touristic location. All the vehicles keep going as if nothing were going on. Is that a form of satire? Nah, that would be giving the movie too much credit.
5/10

A director's cut is on the way.

The director is slowly changing his tune. He first said this ending was the real one and it wasn't ambiguous. Now it's ambiguous. I'm 100% sure there's going to be a John Wick 5. Too much money to be made.

It was too much of a good thing by about 20-minutes to half an hour, I admit that. But I like what is called the "universe building." Wick seems to exist in an alternate reality where the entire population are part of this assassin's world. Even when Wick enters a church during Mass, the priest takes a shot at him. We do see some rare regular people, like in the gun battle in the street circling the Arc de Triomphe, but the rare bystanders are never shot, only the citizens of this strange existence. Police never show up. A gun duel can be fought in front of the Sacré-Cœur basilica and nobody notices. This is a strange new world, indeed and I enjoyed being in it for four movies.
Also, I will see almost anything with Donny Yen in it. It is the second movie I have seen where he speaks English. His parents moved to the U.S. when he was 2. They lived mostly in Boston where the 'rents still reside, so Donnie speaks fluent North American English. Because of Yen's presence, the Arc de Triomphe battle may be a reference to the climax of Yen's 2014 Hong Kong thriller "Kung-Fu Jungle" aka "Kung-Fu Killer" where Yen and the Bad Guy square off in the middle of a three-lane freeway with trucks and cars whizzing by them.

I don't think it was. The director is pretty open about his influences. He doesn't mention Kung Fu Killer as an influence. letterboxd.com/journal/good-bad-guys-chad-stahelski-john-wick-chapter-4/Besides the sequence in John Wick 4 was done better, IMO.
