I am sure there was a few of these threads on the last site, but what the hell.
What I love about the 80s and specially within the world of horror, is that no matter how many films I have seen, or at least I like to think so, there is always many hidden gems awaiting, and as a bonus they often come with some solid music scores or just memorable songs.
The last one I got very addicted to, was from the atmospheric and well acted The Unnamable (1988), and specially the song that arrives as the end theme, kind of stuck with me. I love those haunting, sad and dreamy movie closers, only wished it would have a far more extended outro.
While not an end theme or anything, this little instrumental still has that magical and beautiful warm 80s sound to it, and while all hell might break loose, this calm and peaceful melody gives a little hope of some kind of escape from the horrors that goes on, mostly inside with the few remaining survivors.
One of those 80s songs that just hits home, everytime. A romantic and quite catchy guitar pop ballad, not sure if the soundtrack is that easy to hunt down, but would love to have it in my collection.

My picks will pretty much make for a Bernard Herrmann tribute thread, but then Herrmann is my favorite film composer. And my picks aren’t all Herrmann… :)
“Concerto Macabre,” Hangover Square (1945), Bernard Herrmann
Score to Vertigo (1958), Herrmann
Score to Psycho (1960), Herrmann
Score to Cape Fear (1952), Herrmann
Score to Obsession (1976), Herrmann
Theme to Jaws (1975), John Williams
Score to Dressed to Kill (1980), particularly opening theme and elevator murder, Pino Donaggio
“Cassandra Aria,” Scream 2 (1997), Danny Elfman
Score to Sleepy Hollow (1999), Elfman
“Nights in White Satin,” the Moody Blues, used in Dark Shadows (2012)
Score to The Uninvited (1944), particularly “Stella by Starlight,” Victor Young
Score to The Kiss of the Vampire (1963), particularly “Vampire Rhapsody” and masked ball waltz, James Bernard

I know I’m forgetting something and someone major. But that’s a lot, and I can also add to the list later on.

Many great tunes to choose from, but I'll limit it to these:
Three instrumental horror themes:
And three songs by artists/bands for the soundtracks:

I think Badalamenti must have been a fan of Mancini's "Experiment in Terror" (and the film opens in the "Twin Peaks" neighborhood):

I love the Halloween theme song. I have it as my ringtone too (all year long).
