Sweet Bird of Youth ... Sizzles ! Mostly familiar with Geraldine Page in A Christmas Memory and A Trip to Bountiful so it was odd to see her with the same voice but looking oh, so different.

Ricky Schroder and William Holden in The Earthling 1980. The copy I watched had beautiful colors, unlike this bleak pic. Interesting coincidence: we've both just seen films from the final years of Holden's career. I know: tomorrow, let's both watch S.O.B., his last film. On second thought, let's not. I noticed it and thought it was a funny coincident. Thanks for sharing your two little experiences. Don't forget William Holden also managed to squeeze in maybe the worst movie he ever appeared in, When Time Run Out..., during those final years.

And a raft of other names - Newman, Bissett, Borgnine, Buttons and others - added that to their "strictly for the paycheck" rosters as well. Ever seen The Swarm? An even bigger cast of well-known names, and equally poor. Those Irwin Allen "All-Star Disaster Specials" rather overstayed their welcome.

Well I might as well admit that I was a sucker for those disaster movies in the 1970's and actually thought The Swarm was good, but I must have been blinded by the stars. The one that killed it for me was Beyond the Poseidon Adventure, so when When Time Run Out... came the love affair was already over, so I never watched it.

Jean Arthur and Edward G. Robinson in The Whole Town's Talking 1935 directed by John Ford Edward G played two roles, as lookalikes, one is a mild mannered clerk and one is gangster "Killer" Mannion.

One of my movie mantras is: We like what we like, don't like what we don't, and there's nothing to be done about it (although we sometimes change our minds). In any case, I hope I didn't cause any offense.

What sounds great in my Swedish brain doesn't always come out as I thought in English and could easily be misunderstood and I'm sorry for that, it has never been my intention towards anyone, including you!

Oh, you didn't sound that way at all. I've been told I worry too much about offending or hurting anyone's feelings and maybe so, but I figure if I do worry about it, I'm less likely to do it. Especially to good people I like.
