Despite good performances and a few instances of witty humor, AIR is a by-the-numbers sport business drama with an uninspired soundtrack, because the songs are the most obvious choices for a 1980s setting you could think of. Some of them don’t even match their respective scenes! Everything builds up to a meeting at Nike with Michael Jordan and his parents (Deloris & James). In fact, the scene was presented with all the techniques reserved for the climax of a plot... but no, the climax happens later. A lot later, actually, which made the movie feel longer. I don’t mind most of the changes to the true story. Hey, it’s a dramatization after all. However, I draw the line at turning David Falk (M.J.’s agent) into a sort-of antagonist. Not to mention that he’s portrayed as someone abrasive and Rob Strasser (Nike’s Marketing VP) is portrayed as someone level-headed, when it should be the other way around.
5/10
