And there's always John Irving, who is my favorite (American) writer. Irving is one of my favorites, too. Read, saw and loved the first two. Never got around to HOTEL NEW HAMPSHIRE. Maybe one of these days. I'm so far behind, it's a bit overwhelming. Anyway, I'm glad to see another Irving fan. I seem to recall that petrolino is a big fan of his, too.

The Coen brothers' Oscar-winning adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's brilliant and chilling novel is a great American film, rightly acclaimed as an instant classic.![](https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-yzgoj/images/stencil/1280x1280/products/298214/3947452/apijswri1__23777.1625630617.jpg?c=2) ![](https://blog.pshares.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2016/11/552291316_1280x540-768x324.jpg) ![](https://s3.amazonaws.com/static.rogerebert.com/uploads/review/primary_image/reviews/no-country-for-old-men-2007/EB20071108REVIEWS711080304AR.jpg) ![](https://www.slashfilm.com/img/gallery/tommy-lee-jones-was-a-natural-fit-for-no-country-for-old-men/intro-1649704567.webp) ![](https://i.guim.co.uk/img/static/Guardian/film/gallery/2008/jan/15/1/nocountry2-5159.jpg?width=1010&quality=45&auto=format&fit=max&dpr=2&s=fd53cb47c69a162cb80cad9ab218eafb) ![](https://flickfeast.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/No-Country-For-Old-Men.jpg)

I think he's a wonderful writer. Haven't read this one yet, however. And I tried to watch the film, but the violence in the beginning was just too hard for me, so I put it on hold for now. I hope to see it sometime later. It's gotten a lot of praise, I know.

Maybe I should add this one, since the movie version was one of the best movies I watched last year, among those I've never seen before. ![](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/7160PDDXmxL._AC_UF1000,1000_QL80_.jpg) ![](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BNzg1NjIwNzczN15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNjIyNzEyMQ@@._V1_.jpg)

It's incredibly beautiful and deeply moving. I haven't read the novel, though I probably should. Thanks for the reminder.
