Think it was Patricia Highsmith's first novel, and picked up by Alfred Hitchcock... Very cryptic blurb on that second poster: "You'll Be in the Grip of Love's Strangest Trip!" LOL! Yeah I can see your point. Not sure if it's a UK or USA poster. Somehow it slipped through the ads departments at Warners' either in UK or USA.

The novel is more heartbreaking than the film. ![](https://i.etsystatic.com/12830911/r/il/b4aea2/1817598227/il_fullxfull.1817598227_foj4.jpg)

Shane (1953) - a beautiful adaptation of Jack Schaefer's beautiful novel, the final passage of which I will cherish and remember forever. Hud (1963) - a superb adaptation of Larry McMurtry's first novel, "Horseman, Pass By." I'm sure that anyone who loves the film would also love the novel. It's remarkable. ![](https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:1011/1*yJXvF2KSI5UIKkR_Cl1Sqg.png)
