That report is just too important to be stuck at the end of the previous page, so I repeat it here. And RTE (Irland) found it also important enough to be mentioned. 'Britain has not managed to cope with Brexit despite civil service boost' - report www.rte.ie/news/uk/2024/0313/1437579-brexit-report/ So I repeat it here An important source! This is an essential read as these are the basic facts for the coming tasks and discussions on how to go on! More evidence for the pattern Here an importer of Spanish quality food describes her problems and she shows the amount of paperwork! Laura Kuenssberg, I have a great idea! what about taking this package of paper and show it to the next minister You have an interview with? "I want you to explain me the stuff on these 90 pages. Stay here, minister! Don't run away, the BBC chief gave me time until midnight and the doors are locked!"

Finally a new Brexit Impact Tracker!A long one this time, reading time is about half an hour. As always with Schnyder's blogposts I recommend using reading mode (F9) in Your Browser to see the links better (there are more than 55 of them!). He writes on - Post Truth Politics regarding trade deals between Canada and the UK - Memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with individual US states (that are NOT Free Trade Agreements) - EFTA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) managing a Free Trade Deal with India (a feat neither the EU nor the UK got done so far) - the British media coverage of that Deal - "Britannia rules the waves" as an ideological concept - Inverting red lines - A report on whether there could be space for a cross-party agreement on a rapprochement with the EU !!! (this is the kind of stuff why Schnyder is so valuable, here is the link >>
BUILDING ON THE TRADE AND COOPERATION AGREEMENT: HOW THE UK AND THE EU CAN COOPERATE BETTER FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH AND POLITICAL STABILITY assets.nationbuilder.com/conservativegroupforeurope/pages/503/attachments/original/1710236334/Building_on_the_Trade_and_Cooperation_agreement.pdf?1710236334
(only 154 pages, index of content pg. 9-11, gooed readability contains even stuff like proposals for future Defense Cooperation with the EU... )
But back to the Brexit Impact Tracker – 22 March 2024 – Ruling the Waves: Of trade nostalgia and inverting red lineswww.gerhardschnyder.com/brexit-impact-tracker/2024/3/22/brexit-impact-tracker-22-march-2024-ruling-the-waves-of-trade-nostalgia-and-inverting-red-linesand it finishes with Notice that this is not about Joining/Rejoining the EU - it's about starting a serious conversation that should lead to reasonable scenario for a stable (at least mid-term) relationship between the UK and the EU that would be in the interest of most Britons and would give business the long missing reliability for invest. Where I disagree with Schnyder is: Labour has to start this discussion ASAP - BEFORE THE NEXT GE! They have to make clear that the Tories won't have any post Brexit plan anytime soon and they never had one (but several too many). And if the toxic press tries to "BRINO" them Labour has to SCREAM loud: "WHERE ARE YOUR PLANS, TORIES?" . Having said that I do really hope that Labour HAS a plan. "We will make Brexit work" is an intention, not a plan after all.
