Simply put, the Saints won yesterday because they had a superior passing game. When Carolina shut down the Saints run game, the Saints were able to pass effectively. When the Saints shut down the Panthers run game, they were not able to pass effectively enough.
(The game was close because Carolina had a superior defense.)
The Saints lucked out on that interception. The Panther dropped the ball. That was not an interception. The result was worse field position for the Panthers --- about 30 yards.
