"Renters must be at least 20 years old to rent a vehicle at most locations in the U.S. and Canada. In Michigan, New York and the province of Quebec, the minimum age to rent a vehicle is 18. In Alabama and Nebraska, the minimum age to rent a vehicle is 19." The age to legally buy a gun should coincide with military service, alcohol, and voting. At some point, we're going to have to decide on an age of adulthood. In Illinois it’s 25. I’ve never heard of a company renting cars to under 25s. They’re too young and stupid IMO. That quote is directly from a Hertz site. This is from Enterprise: "How old do you have to be to rent a car in Illinois? To rent a car in Illinois, you must be at least 21 years old." Did you see the latest on the Illinois "assault weapon" ban? abc7chicago.com/illinois-assault-weapons-ban-injunction-il-gun-laws-2023-weapon/13193444/"SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- A federal judge in East St. Louis issued an order Friday blocking enforcement of Illinois' ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines until a lawsuit challenging the law is resolved. Judge Stephen P. McGlynn, of the Southern District of Illinois, said the law known as the Protect Illinois Communities Act, or PICA, is likely to be found unconstitutional when the case goes to trial and the plaintiffs in the consolidated cases will suffer harms without a preliminary injunction to block its enforcement."

Wow, never heard of that. I’ve always thought it was 25. Oh well, don’t sell guns until they’re 21 then. No, I didn’t hear but I’m not surprised. Gun rights advocates are doing this everywhere knowing SCOTUS will also likely back them. I want a .50 caliber machine gun. Can you buy those things anywhere?

You can own one, if you find someone willing to transfer their's to you. It's a NFA item as well. It'll probably cost you $50,000. And of course, this is a very large mounted weapon, so not something you can shoot holding in your hand. You can get a semiautomatic 50 caliber rifle though. $6-$7,000. It's not as big as a M2 machinegun. It can be held and fired, but it's better if shot supported.

Obviously you pointed out it wouldn’t exactly be the choice of a mass shooter attacking a school. My Dad always said that was his favorite gun in the service, an absolutely badass weapon.

81% of FauxNews viewers want to see the age requirement to purchase firearms raised to 21??? Yes, why does that surprise you?. Even the hillbillies are tired of the daily mass killings in America.

You could legally own an automatic M2, if someone that already owns one, is will to sell it to you. You would have to go through the whole tax stamp process, because it is a NFA item. The less expensive semiautomatic Barrett, would not be automatic. But it is a magazine fed rifle, not a belt fed machinegun.

Kids are little fuck faces. Ask adults how their junior high experience was, it wasn't good.
Usually, some kids kept fucking with another poor kid, he breaks, and boom.
But ban guns and shit... Dude... I have to ask... Are you literally retarded? Maybe kids shouldn't pick on other kids who are weak? Maybe we should all be kind, you don't know what they're going through. Ehh, nvm, ban stuff

Kids are assholes, maybe we need better parenting.... Whatever, people are sick of mass shootings that no one has any answers for. Personally, I think the people doing these things are out for as many casualties as possible, and guns are just easiest. But because that's what they use, that's what the focus is. America has a huge gun culture so guns are not going to go anywhere, I wish the argument would move to actual solutions to keeping kids safe in schools. I'm not shocked that public opinion is now favorable to more gun control though. You can only have so many shot up schools and say "no, we don't need red flag laws." It's like every month now. There are answers but few want to hear them. Democrats don't because their agenda is to overturn the Constitution, there is more than the 2A they want changed, they also want to do away with the Electoral College and parts of 1A. They aren't interested in solving violence because it brings in donations. The media makes $$$$ off every dead kid, they have a vested interest in increasing violence, that's why they inflate stats (their mass shooting count is 5X the official count) and you'll notice they don't talk about solutions. The Republican only seem to be interested entrenching weapons into our schools. The way to stop violence is interrupt the cycle of violence. These so called mass shootings are a relatively new fad and it can be solved.

We know the pressures that make some people snap, social isolation, overstimulation combined with boredom. There is probably nothing you can do with a 25 yo except monitor them but kids are salvageable. First thing I would do is ban phones and laptops in school. Race and gender bullshit, gone. All it does is increase division and social isolation. Teachers run their class. They give the grades, they decide who passes, they decide who is disruptive and shouldn't be there. Introduce mental health screening the same way we screen for vision and hearing problems, someone comes to the school every year, talks to the teachers and interviews students. If someone is identified as being at risk, we investigate their home life and maybe get them more help. We treat bullying and cyber bullying as serious and hold parents responsible for their terrible kids. Kids with behavioral problems are removed from school. For the time being we lock down schools and post 2 armed police officers in every school. We have to attack the campaigns that are attacking nuclear families. Fathers are the most important factor by far in whether a child will turn criminal. For kids without fathers, maybe we can push more funding into big brothers big sisters. And the biggest thing is we have to stop talking and start doing. Everyone can't be in the conversation. And the soft approach has only made things worse.

I know. The people in power have no interest in the future of the country, it's all about the now. They will say, how can I change things if I don't get elected? But I think people working for the future have a good chance at being reelected. Obama did very little and got two terms by expressing a positive attitude. Some of the strongest personalities in Congress are reportedly put-ons for the public. One freshman rep came under fire for saying behind closed doors they are intelligent, educated on the issues, and congenial, but outside they are auditioning for TV. Imagine if they put that ability toward solving our problems, instead of the problems of donors.

We have background checks and what are these assault weapons you speak of? You must define it.
You can use a gun to go fight a war for a politician and their owners, but not buy your own until 21? Stop being moronic.
And since Fox "News" reported this, it is probably all fake and you disagree with it.

I was wondering about this one, too... But, then, again... In most states, you can be old enough to fight... and presumably, die... for your country, but not be old enough to buy alcohol. It's not completely unheard of.
