No you aren't. You're being a real liberal. You can't compare the people on the ground to our rulers at the top. They say one thing and end up doing something else. Today's liberals like our current President and others like him are exactly as I've described. This is an admission that your previous blanket statement was incorrect. "Today's liberals" aren't any one thing because not all liberals are the same. Not all conservatives are the same. In my global hunger work (not my main job, my volunteer work, my passion), I only encounter liberals, however. The only way we've gotten conservatives to listen to us is to set aside the human element - the staggering no. of people who starve to death, die of hydration every day - and to explain that preventative health measures are cost-effective and investing in microcredit allows people to raise themselves out of poverty. Even, then, it's a struggle to educate them. Amazing how conservatives think there’s something wrong with liberals voting for a liberal. I guess we are to be Democrats in name only, but vote Right Wing or else. And are there still conservatives in government? I think they mostly checked out after 2016. But the GOP is in shambles, Trump has not stopped fucking us over yet, but only the ex-conservatives are doing it right. |
