replacement for Maul. Maul was 100x more marketable and appealing; hence him returning in other mediums. Maul would whoop his ass too. Dooku would only win because he was written that way. Maul was a fucking absolute killer and would smoke him in a duel.
Dooku's motives and personality made no sense either. He's upset by the death of Qui Gon.....soooo he joins the person responsible for it? Maul was Palpatine's apprentice. He rants about the corruption in the senate and again joins the person responsible for it.
He is such a poorly written character. Should have been Maul all 3 movies.

My fan fiction rewrite of the PT would have Maul return for the second movie. The climax would be an Anakin vs Maul duel that ends with Anakin defeating him, then executing him with Palpatine’s encouragement, just like the scene in Sith (which came too late in the series)

I dont mind Dooku. Have you watched that short animated series, Tales of the Jedi by any chance? More of the Count in there
Maul is a better character though

Taking out Maul would have been much more impressive feat.
I don't care that Dooku could shoot lightning, Christopher Lee looked foolish with a lightsaber. All the old characters did. Yoda, Palpatine, Dooku - none of it worked.
I think killing Maul in the beginning of Sith would have been fine, but that's when he should have become Vader. Give us more time with him as Vader. Not some last minute unconvincing fall to the Dark Side at the end of the movie.

I thought the Dooku one was very good, but Lucas didn't write that. His character arc and motives simply don't work in the movies. Classic Lucas bad writing.

I’m not a big enough nerd to actually have written a fan fiction, but I am a big enough nerd to have written a treatment/summary! I think Lucas’ ideas for the PT were actually pretty great, but flawed in execution. Episode II was pure filler though and should’ve done what the first half of Episode III was left to do.

The actor had big feet but they didn't have time to make custom boots for him but the off the shelf ones he wore the first day were very painful. Cushing complained to Lucas who allowed him to be shot waist up so he could wear more comfortable slippers for shooting his scenes.
So Tarkin smelled like lilacs?
