Okay, again, I don't get it... the X part... But the article was really interesting and reminds me of one of the last things that prevented me from being an agnostic atheist... Why did human brains advance and not the all the apes? It seemed to make us special, somehow, the only species to have their brain advance so far above every other life form. Why just us? But eventually, I filed it under "things we don't understand YET" and went on to focus on how all this extra brain capacity hasn't made us model citizens, yet. We still seemingly need a supernatural power to get us to be good, or bad, depending on what 'holy scripture' one reads.

The "special species" has been around for only 0.02 percent of Earth's history. It might be more fair to give things more time. Maybe other species will catch up in time.

I like that perspective; it shows us we aren't the 'world rulers' we think we are.

There is a possibility that brains developed in other creatures but didn't confer any evolutionary advantage because they didn't have opposable thumbs and a larynx.

Science Alert isn't a reliable source, they often sensationalize and mischaracterize research for clicks.

No 'chance' involved.
