England not only know what their potential quarter finals will look like but will know who they face in the round of 16.
If Colombia finish second, we seriously need to think (like a man having sex with a partner for the first time) about deliberately coming second.

Or just not try so hard. No need to throw the match.
I want Senegal out. I’d prefer if Colombia advance.

Rodriguez off. Senegal have a real chance here.

Hmmm, now I'm conflicted.
If England win the group, they play a pretty awful Japan.
But if they come second they get a pretty winnable quarter final (but would have to beat Colombia to get there).

The fact is if you’re going to win the Cup you’ll have to beat the big guys anyway. They’ll mostly be decided by penalties anyway 🤷🏼♂️

If you can fluke your way to the semis then anything can happen. Truth be told, England aren't good enough to win the world cup... UNLESS they get a lucky route to the semis. The Italian team of 2006 was pretty mediocre if you ask me. Solid, organised and hard to beat but nothing special. They got an easy group (Ghana, USA, Czech Republic) then (more importantly) got a very convenient route to the semis with a last 16 game against Australia and a quarter final against Ukraine. It was only when they got to the semis that they had to play a decent team (Germany) and like I said, once you get to the semis (where you're so close you can almost taste it)... anything can happen. That's England's only realistic chance in hell. That being said playing Colombia won't be easy.

Which either means Australia were a brilliant team or further adds weight to my point that Italy were nothing special.
