Those seen in a theater upon their release. This, of course, will vary upon the age of the poster. These are among the ones I remember most vividly - some wonderful, some silly, some just plain terrible. The first two impressed me the most, and I will love them for as long as I live. Old Yeller The Searchers The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) The Shaggy Dog The Incredible Shrinking Man The Mole People The Time Machine (1960)
There are probably more; if I think of them, I'll add them later.

This is the first movie I remember seeing in a theater. Loved it then; it is a pretty bad movie now.

Mary Poppins 1964, The Jungle Book 1967 and The Love Bug 1969 are the ones I remember most. There was probably some Swedish Family movies too, but I have a bit difficulty telling them apart since many were televised a few years after they premiered and I can't remember if I watched them at a cinema or on TV.

Attack (1956) Most brutal war movie to that time. Vertigo (1958) Psycho (1960) The Time Machine (1960) The Naked Edge (1961) Brit noir. Gary Cooper's last movie. To Kill A Mockingbird (1962) The Manchurian Candidate (1962)

Too many to name. Got me to thinking about a few of the earliest ones. I guess you could call these signposts of my evolving childhood. Animated, from France (1950), but didn't reach us until a couple years later. A young boy enters a fantasy world, saves a colony of bees from destruction and uses them to vanquish a giant who had reduced the lad and his friends to miniature size. Those little guys crawling out of the oil well scared the gumdrops out of me. Came out a year after Disney's Davy Crockett. We were primed for Crockett's entrance. When a bearded Arthur Hunnicutt walked through the door there was a moment of shocked disbelief before three hundred kids went ballistic. Not really a kid's movie. A bull terrier escapes the ghetto, briefly becomes a pit fighter and ends up a champion show dog. My parents took me to see this. I spent most of the movie hiding behind the seat, coming up when the music didn't sound scary. After that, I was a life-long horror movie fan.

That I've seen in theatres before the age of say 13? Star Wars for sure. I remember going with my brother. The theatre was packed and we could only get terrible seats in front and on the side, but ultimately that didn't detract from my enjoyment.
The first Superman with Christopher Reeves. When he first appears as Superman and flies out from the Fortress of Solitude and the sold-out crowd erupted in cheers, that was one of the biggest thrills in my long movie-going career.
I have vague recollections of watching some of the classic Disney animated movies like Snow White and Bambi with my parents when I was around eight or so.

The original Rollerball was one. I had the poster.
All the Toho "Rubber suit" monster flix. We got the NYC station and n the weekend, it was Creature Feature. Godzilla, Rodan, Gamera all the big ones. I remember being bored with the movies when a monster wasn't stomping on something.
But my all time fav was Jason and the Argonauts. Especially this gem

The acting in Jason and the Argonauts is atrocious. But the Ray Harryhausen special effects and the Bernard Herrmann score are top notch
Talos was my favorite. That metallic screeeee when Talos moves his head was the bomb for us kiddies. Most will remember the sowing of the Dragon's Teeth

Speed was the first R-rated movie I saw in cinemas.
Other memorable childhood films are Baby's Day Out, Dunston Checks In, Twister, The Phantom, The Ghost and the Darkness and Dragonheart.
