It may be the weakest of the original trilogy, but it still wraps things up nicely overall from the first two movies even if done in a relatively safe manner. Characters like Jabba The Hutt and The Emperor are highlights as are the visual effects (like the Endor bike chase and space battle). The heart of the movie are the scenes between Luke, Vader, and The Emperor. I don't think the Ewoks overall are that bad even though it's silly that the Empire's finest troops can easily be beaten by teddy bears with sticks and rocks. Given the way the subsequent Star Wars movies turned out, you do wonder if maybe things should have really ended right here. At least we certainly got one of the better third movies to come out in Hollywood. Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: Return of the Jedi (1983) - 3.5 out of 4 stars"Third installment in the STAR WARS saga is a sheer delight, following the destiny of Luke Skywalker as his comrades reunite to combat a powerful Death Star. Some routine performances are compensated for by ingenious new characters and Oscar-winning special effects. More sentimental and episodic than its predecessors, but carried out in the best tradition of Saturday matinee serials, from which it draws its inspiration. Full title on-screen is: STAR WARS EPISODE VI: RETURN OF THE JEDI. Special edition released in 1997 features enhanced effects and 4m. of additional footage. Followed by two Ewok adventures for TV and the prequel STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE. J-D-C Scope."

Just watched it again for the first time in a while a couple weeks ago. It’s good, but I still don’t love it.

It's a really solid movie and a decent finale to the trilogy. I feel like the section where they go to Andor is kinda dull though. But the final confrontation is everything.
