'Anatomy Of A Fall' (2023) has won the Palme D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. It's directed by Justine Triet who is from Fécamp in Normandy. She was presented with the award by actress Jane Fonda who lived and worked in France in the 1960s. Jonathan Glazer's 'The Zone Of Interest' (2023) was awarded the Grand Prix; German actress Sandra Hüller is in both 'The Zone Of Interest' and 'Anatomy Of A Fall'.
A couple of films I'd like to see won prizes and it was an opportunity for old friends and 'The Other Boleyn Girl' (2008) co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman to meet. Johansson has been working with filmmaker Wes Anderson on 'Asteroid City' (2023). Anderson directed Portman in 'The Darjeeling Limited' (2007) and its sister film 'Hotel Chevalier' (2007).

I liked Asteroid City but it felt a little too much like Anderson doing Anderson at times. I liked The French Dispatch a lot more even if the same criticism could be applied
May December was a little disappointing. I usually like Todd Haynes, particularly when in melodrama mode, but I felt the light comic tone was distracting
Looking forward to Fallen Leaves, Monster, Perfect Days, Killers of the Flower Moon, Zone of Interest
