Based off the book by Andy Weir (The Martian), Project Hail Mary follows a teacher-turned-astronaut tasked with saving the Earth from a potentially catastrophic ice age by journeying to a far-off galaxy. Gosling will produce and star in the movie adaptation. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will direct it while Drew Goddard will write the script.

Far-off GALAXY? Jesus F Christ, do these people have no notion of distances in space? I have the book in question but I haven't read it yet.

I'm currently in an ongoing discussion elsewhere with a poster who swears - and this is a direct quote - that: "But comparing exploring and colonizing The New World, with exploring and colonizing outer space is a dead on, exact comparison. With similar risks and obstacles." I'm not sure whether I should laugh or cry. 8-|

I actually said: "The two propositions are simply orders of magnitude apart in difficulty and probability." But it had little impact on the other poster's opinions.
