Unfortunately the text describes what the books are saying, not why, where or when they were banned.
I can get descriptions of the few books I don't know or haven't read by googling the books easily enough. Not quite as easy to find out those questions.

Censorship is the unlettered's response to mass literacy, which they view as a threat to God's divine order. Access to reading leads to free thought, which makes man question divine law and leads him to be unhappy with his place in The Great Scheme of Things, according to the banners. In a nation as Puritanical and basically averse to academic learning and culture as the US has traditionally been, this is indeed disgusting but hardly surprising. And not likely to change.
