As Teleadm reported, actor Frederic Forrest left us yesterday at the age of 86. He was an exceptional talent and a wonderful man.
My favorite of his performances was in The Rose, for which he received an Oscar nomination as best supporting actor. I also loved him in Apocalypse Now, The Conversation, and Hammett, among many others on the big screen and and the small. He was loved and respected by so many.
As Bette Midler tweeted: "The great and beloved Frederic Forrest has died. Thank you to all of his fans and friends for all their support these last few months. He was a remarkable actor, and a brilliant human being, and I was lucky to have him in my life. He was at peace.”
Btw, he was born and raised in Waxahachie, Texas, USA, where Oscar winning writer/director Robert Benton was born and raised, and they grew up together there. Small world, indeed.

A fine actor who has appeared in many well-known movies.
Great performances in these two movies that really stand out:
Larry - A 1974 made-for-TV movie in which he played a man wrong confined in a mental institution. Falling Down - As the neo-Nazi lunatic who owns a surplus store. Probably one of his all-time best performances.

Agree with you about these, Spencer. Exceptional performances, indeed. And I would add another, though the film really belonged to Ann-Margret, but he was also really good: the tv movie, Who Will Love My Children? (1983).
And I also really liked him When the Legends Die (1972), even though the film wasn't that great.

Had no idea Frederic Forrest knew Robert Benton from their days back in Texas - two awesome people.
Thanks for the tribute.
