Episode 3, Season One of Strange New Worlds (on Paramount +).
Third episode, third example of truly magnificent storytelling...and when it comes to TV, "magnificent" is not a word I use often.
Yes, the special effects are dazzling. Yes, the actors are excellent (and several of them are seriously hubba-hubba-worthy). Yes, the sets are superb....
but above all, the storytelling is gripping, compelling, and often poignant (as evidenced by a moment in each of the episodes I've so far watched that has brought tears to my eyes and/or a lump to my throat).
Much as I've enjoyed the Star Wars-derived series I've watched on Disney + (especially The Mandalorian and Andor), I've felt a void, as of something missing.
After watching SNW, I know what the void was...and now it's being filled. But then, I was a Trek-person before Star Wars existed.
I'm so happy to have fresh, new, high-quality stories in both universes to love!

I haven't delved into Strange New Worlds. I watched a season of Discovery and didn't love it, so never bothered with this. I just can't buy these shows as prequels.

I might, but I just can't see it as a prequel to TOS. I hate prequels that look too new.
