Any fans of the "South of Heaven" album by the metal band Slayer? How has it held up after 35 years? The band slows things down a bit with this album after the popular "Reign in Blood". But slowing things down seemed liked a logical choice since the band members felt they couldn't outdo what they did on "Reign in Blood". What the album lacks in speed, it makes up for with good songs and solid band member performances overall for a pretty good album. Most people know of songs like "South of Heaven" and "Mandatory Suicide", but I think there are also memorable tracks like "Silent Scream", "Ghosts of War", "Behind The Crooked Cross", and "Spill The Blood".

My favorite Slayer album, while I still like Reign in Blood, I think they were at their best on this one and Seasons in the Abyss. I also do quite like the album cover, reminds me of Francis Bacon.
