Nice! I went through some of the notes in my desk drawer since I have time, remembered that I was considering making a play on this last summer as well (I ultimately declined, as I do 99% of the time). But anyway, although prices have fallen lately, in the time you guys were discussing this (July 19 - September 15), mere sixty-two days, you would have made an 11.7% gain. Nice!!
(Of course holding through this week gives you a gain of 3.1% in five months, still not bad but nothing to write home about. But let's say if you went "all in" as per the thread title on the day you posted it, invested a reasonable $10,000, and sold on the last day you posted, September 19, you would have booked a gross short term profit of approximately $1,170, which after taxes would be approximately $700 -- a good night out at the titty bar and friends and family I'm sure.)
Nice!!!!
I was lucky and got out before the freefall. Iirc I told another poster here when oil per barrel was high but gas prices hadn't budged a penny for a span of 2 weeks, I felt like something was up and I was selling. How the heck is oil at highs and gas not go up for 2 weeks? Usually a Saudi prince sneezes and gas goes up 10 cents.

In any case, when it comes to commodities and commodity derivatives -- who the hell knows.
Just be careful with that stuff.

I am mostly out and I am done. Remember we discussed it some time ago - I took my earnings and most my investment and bought a 10 year CD at 4.95% and called it a day haha I can't take the required roller coaster ride to really invest in commodities long term. I did leave 10% of my investments in energy and used 10% to buy into a "Life Strategy Growth" fund and will just leave them alone for 10 years and pray.
