I shifted half my Roth IRA into energy funds 2 weeks ago, leaving the other half in growth funds.

I shifted half my Roth IRA into energy funds 2 weeks ago, leaving the other half in growth funds. Energy space has had a lot of money flow out of it which has gone into chasing tech. I think building energy positions now will pay off later in year. Maybe we dont get $100 oil but we could very well get close to it.

The price of regular gas today in Richmond VA went up 10 cents but what's odd is diesel jumped up 20 cents.
Considering how the distribution sector is floundering (which is what has driven diesel prices down), I do wonder why they're going up and this quickly.

my question is, why didn't I buy in when oil was $19-30 a barrel in 2020?
damn it.
i was too busy goofing off raising kids and working 60+ hours a week.

$91.14 today.
about 30 days ago it was $79.38. That's quite a push.

Nice! I went through some of the notes in my desk drawer since I have time, remembered that I was considering making a play on this last summer as well (I ultimately declined, as I do 99% of the time). But anyway, although prices have fallen lately, in the time you guys were discussing this (July 19 - September 15), mere sixty-two days, you would have made an 11.7% gain. Nice!!
(Of course holding through this week gives you a gain of 3.1% in five months, still not bad but nothing to write home about. But let's say if you went "all in" as per the thread title on the day you posted it, invested a reasonable $10,000, and sold on the last day you posted, September 19, you would have booked a gross short term profit of approximately $1,170, which after taxes would be approximately $700 -- a good night out at the titty bar and friends and family I'm sure.)
Nice!!!!
