2023 NFL Pro Football Hall Of Fame Game : Cleveland Browns 21 - 16 New York Jets
'Identify' (1979) - The O'Jays (of Canton)
The Cleveland Browns have narrowly defeated the New York Jets in this year's Hall Of Fame football game played in Canton, Ohio. This was the 6th appearance for the Browns and 3rd appearance for the Jets, two of the sport's historic franchises.
Browns Spotlight
'You Won't Fail' (1980) - The O'Jays (of Canton) in space ...
Under Coach Paul Brown, the Cleveland Browns were known for innovative offense and play construction, but they were strong on both sides of the ball. This season there'll be a lot more focus on the defensive side of the ball with the departure of defensive coordinator Joe Woods. Next man up is Jim Schwartz (aged 57) who brings a wealth of experience to Cleveland, lining up alongside another former head coach, Bill Callahan (aged 67), in the Browns dugout.

The Wildcard : Coach Jim Schwartz on Greg Newsome becoming a potential X Factor
"Hard Days Ahead ..." : Changing the culture in Cleveland ...
Following in the footsteps of Hall of Famers of the calibre of Len Ford, Willie Davis and Doug Atkins can't be easy but Coach Schwartz believes defensive end Myles Garrett has what it takes to become one of the game's greats. The challenge for Schwartz is to make the defense solid at every level, a challenge he says will take time and a lot of hard work.

Lightning Linebackers : Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on Coach Jim Schwartz
Juiced-Up Secondary : The arrival of Juan Thornhill
The AFC North will bring stiff competion for the Browns in the form of the Baltimore Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers and state rivals the Cincinnati Bengals. The AFC Conference is expected to be hotly contested more generally, with a wealth of playing talent lining up across the four divisions.

Cleveland Browns : 'Pre-Season Dilemmas'
'Go All The Way' (1972) - Raspberries (of Cleveland)
The Cleveland Browns' experienced offensive line is often battling injury and missing key personnel which makes me think of the Dallas Cowboys' trials on offense in recent times. Some people attribute common injury in football to issues around training, preparation and even execution on gameday but I couldn't say if this has been a factor in Cleveland. This unit will be charged with protecting quarterback Deshaun Watson in what's expected to be his first full season playing for the Browns. It starts with solid protection at center where Nick Harris faces competition from Ethan Pocic to hold down the spot. In years gone by, Frank 'Gunner' Gatski created the mould for all Cleveland centers to follow. Gatski placed an accent on rhythm and movement; a graceful dancer with a passion for polka, Gatski serviced quarterback 'Automatic' Otto Graham who was a pianist.
'During the period the Cleveland Browns were dominating first the All-America Football Conference from 1946 to 1949 and then the National Football League in the early 1950s, Frank Gatski anchored the offensive line that powered pro football's most potent attack. He concluded his 11-year tenure with the Browns in 1956 and then was traded to the Detroit Lions for a final season in 1957. The 6-3, 233-pound Gatski, who played three years at Marshall College before joining the U.S. Infantry in World War II, had to survive a grueling training camp tryout to earn a spot on the 1946 Browns roster. Then he had to serve a two-year apprenticeship behind the veteran Mo Scarry before Frank took over the regular center job for good in 1948. Strong, consistent, blessed with a great attitude and exceptional pass blocking abilities, Frank was also durable. He never missed a game or a practice in high school, college or the pros. He was named to the All-NFL honor roll in 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1955 and played as a starting center in the 1956 Pro Bowl. Perhaps because he played at a comparatively obscure position, Gatski was relatively unsung through most of his career. Many of his more publicized teammates on both the Browns and the Lions preceded him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. However, Frank can claim one signal distinction – he played in 11 championship games in 12 seasons with his team winning eight times. During his tenure, the Browns won all four AAFC championships and were in the title game their first six years in the NFL. The Browns missed the playoffs in 1956 but Frank earned his eighth championship ring in 1957, when the Lions overwhelmed his old team, 59-14, in Gatski's final game in the NFL.'

The Wildcard : Coach Alex Van Pelt on Cedric Tillman becoming a potential Wow Factor
The Chess Game : Amari Cooper
I think Cleveland have lacked depth at the receiver positions for many years. In looking to provide support for Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones this season, they've traded for Elijah Moore and picked up Marquise Goodwin's signature. The Browns could look to employ speed merchant Anthony Schwartz in the slot but seem apprehensive due to his questionable ball skills and potential to drop or fumble, so reports out this week are suggesting he might not even make the final roster. If so, this could open the door for David Bell to become a high-impact player in his 2nd seaon having shown an ability to get open. But can Deshaun Watson provide the ammunition for this receiving corps to take it all the way to the end zone?
The Running Game : Coach Stump Mitchell assesses the field of play
The Kicking Game : 'Get To Know Cade York' with Kay Adams
In the running game, Kareem Hunt is a free agent and has reportedly been down in New Orleans visiting with the Saints. Nick Chubb's been getting it done since his arrival in Cleveland. I'm a big fan of Demetric Felton for his verve, creativity, versatility, imagination and work ethic, aspects of Hunt's play the Browns will be missing this season, so I'm hoping Felton can step in and step up. Jerome Ford's just picked up an injury during practise but John Kelly's waiting in the wings. I'm not sure that Cleveland ever truly replaced fullbacks Andy Janovich and Johnny Stanton, so they might be in the market for a traditional fullback to provide different options on the ground. Hunt could line up as a fullback, a halfback, a wingback or a receiver and I'm backing Felton to develop a similarly multi-faceted kind of skill set and bring it to the field of play. Then hand it off to the Chubbster and watch him go!!

2023 NFL Pre-Season ~ Game 2 : Cleveland Browns 18 - 18 Philadelphia Eagles
There was some trouble during practise sessions undertaken by the Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles so it's no surprise these old rivals couldn't be separated on gameday. On the plus side for Cleveland was a chance to see quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson in action in his first NFL starting appearance for the Browns, the organisation having drafted him in the 5th round of this year's NFL draft. Deshaun Watson lent his support from the sideline and leapt high for a Browns high five.

The Browns are going to be interesting to watch this year - I’m curious to see how Deshaun Watson plays given that he’s missed almost 2 full seasons. If he plays like he did when he last started, the Browns should be strong - Nick Chubb is a great RB, and the receiving unit led by Amari Cooper looks solid, and the defense should be good - 2 stellar pass rushers in Garrett and Smith and a pretty deep secondary. The thing is, the AFC North is loaded, the Bengals and Ravens should be very strong as well and never count out the Steelers. I could see that division finishing many different ways, it will be fun to watch.

If I recall correctly, Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt and Peter Schrager on 'Good Morning Football' all had Cleveland missing out on the playoffs but multiple teams making it from the AFC North division. Even DeAngelo Hall who has them tagged as a potential upsetter this season doesn't back them to make the playoffs.
On 'Pro Football Talk', Mike Florio and Chris Simms both picked the Browns to finish last in their division.

The Browns are in the toughest division in the NFL IMO, if they were in the NFC North or South or AFC South I would pick them to win the division, and I would pick them second in probably all other divisions, but the AFC North is loaded - the Bengals and Ravens look to be great and the Steelers are always competitive and solid.

I think a couple of the people I mentioned on 'Good Morning Football' picked the Atlanta Falcons to win the NFC South division, certainly to make the playoffs. I'm rooting for Desmond Ridder, seems like a great kid, Avril Lavigne fan and played some moderately high level college football in Ohio (... he's a Louisville boy from Kentucky like Drystyx ... speaking of a city that deserves an NFL franchise ...) ...

petrolinoI’m hoping my Falcons win the division, we haven’t made the playoffs since 2017. The offense has a lot of talent and the defense added in some decent pieces. The Saints are probably the preseason favorites to win the division as their defense is pretty good and they have a proven decent QB, but I’m hoping the Falcons win it, I like what Arthur Smith has done and I think things are trending upward.

Maria Halle Berry (born August 14, 1966, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.) High School Cheerleader ~ Miss Ohio 1986 | Music by the Raspberries
'Halle Berry won the Miss Teen Ohio Pageant at just 18, and later that year was named Miss Teen All-American, according to People.com. In 1986, she won the Miss Ohio title before coming in first runner-up at the Miss USA pageant.'

'I Can Remember'
VALLEY VIEW, Ohio (AP) -- 'Even in the rain, Halle Berry draws a crowd when she returns home to the Cleveland area. About 800 people waited in drizzle Thursday night in this Ohio suburb to catch a glimpse of the Oscar-winning actress before a screening of her new film, "Perfect Stranger." Onlookers snapped photos with cameras and cell phones as Berry made her way from a sport utility vehicle to the movie theater. She signed autographs, talked to fans and conducted interviews with local media. "I'm so happy to be home," she told the packed theater before the film started. "I swear this is true. No matter how many countries I've been to, no matter how many warm receptions I've gotten, my heart was beating when I pulled up. Nothing feels better. The voices all sound familiar in some weird way. I'm of here. I'm from here. And I'm one of you." Berry, 40, grew up in the Cleveland area and graduated from high school in suburban Bedford in 1984. She won the best-actress Oscar in 2002 for "Monster's Ball." Guests at the screening included Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson — who called Berry "homegrown and beautiful" when he introduced her — and Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards. "I'm a big fan of Halle Berry's," Edwards said. "I think every man in America is." "Perfect Stranger," which also stars Bruce Willis and Giovanni Ribisi, opens in theaters April 13.'
