People can enjoy watching exploitation movies involving pimps or use "pimp" as a slang term basically meaning same thing as stud. I doubt even most black people would think of a real life pimp as being anything but a scumbag.

He is another theory could be connected.
It’s a combination of American sexist culture and capitalism.
Pimps control and “protect” women who are prostituting themselves. It gives them power.
Pimps are are also entrepreneurs. They are small business owners running independently and are free of the 9-5 work culture. Entrepreneurship is highly celebrated in American culture.

Because a lot of Black people haven't got the brains to realize they are being exploited by the White Liberal elites. That's why. It plays up a racial trope of the worst kind. You going to have to present arguments for this claim.

Well "pimping" as a slang word for "womanizer" or "extravagent wealth" is socially acceptable. As far as "unapologetically militant feminism" actually feminsts types are rather split on pimping/prostitution, some believing it's degrading to women, while more "sex worker" friendly types believe it's their body their choice and women shouldn't be shamed for it. As far a Black American culture, I think people mostly just like the "aesthetics" of pimping (the pimp hat, riddiculous clothing, jewelry, cadillac, etc). And it's not just black american culture either, people in general tend to glamorize the "aesthetics" of crime even if they themselves are morally opposed to criminals, especially Mafia culture (The Godfather, Sopranos, Jon Gotti, etc).

How do you explain African-American writers, directors and actors going along?

Larger than life criminals are popular in entertainment in general. It's not just pimps, and it's not just blacks who are into it.

My nickname is high school was “pimpslap.” Not because I was flamboyantly dressed or got lots of girls, but because when my friend played a .wav file titled “pimpslap” I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair and burned my hand on a nearby radiator.

We live in a society where they erected a statue in honor of a petty thug for getting killed by a cop. That was a mistake on BLM part. I think Derek Chauvin was a cowboy clown who should have lost his badge way before Floyd, but why make a junkie POS the face of your movement? When they started painting murals and erecting statues of the SOB outside of Minneapolis, even some liberals started side-eyeing it. Floyd did nothing worthy of having statues all over the country like he was some civil rights hero. If they wanted a face for their movement, why not Tamir Rice, the little boy who got shot with the toy gun? That was such a poorly handled situation. I don't feel bad for Chauvin at all, but Floyd was not some hero. He was a bad actor that unfortunately came across a bad cop. BLM really fell from grace, between the riots and and all the fraud accusations. Amazon doesn't even have them on their list of charities anymore.

People were calling 911 on Rice for pointing it at people. If some kid points what looks like a real gun at me, I'm not gonna think it's cute.

Tony Soprano ran a strip club, among various illegal activities. I don’t remember prostitution being one of them. That clears up his reputation.
Why can't you acknowledge the difference?

Strippers are well known for picking up side business..........but that doesn't necessarily mean that the business is behind their illegal activities.

Not celebrated nearly high enough.
I would also certainly differentiate between a business arrangement where the whores and pimps co-mingle voluntarily, as opposed thru any use of force or coercion.
