'Rivalry Of The Decade' 'Last Man Standing' : John Cena Vs Edge @ Backlash 2009
[8.0] "Edge and Christian both finish the night winning world title belts (only Edge's matter) even though they weren't on the same page at this time. This was a very good show by WWE, numerous decent to good matches, however it was made by a wicked Last Man Standing main event between Edge and Cena which has two of WWE's most memorable holy sh*t moments on it. The crowd sucked on this show, they were very quiet as was the normal for WWE crowds in the early stages of the Reality /PG era. Thumbs Up"
- Kazuya101, Cagematch
[9.0] "Awesome match beetween two of the best workers of those years. I loved the storytelling about the fact that both knew each other so well and the counters about the finishers, and I loved the sacred aspect of the finishing manouvers, not like to those days where finishers are used like drink a glass of water. Edge is probably one of the best Pshycologist in history, second only to Taker or Shawn or HHH, and Cena is one of the best sellers and his ring prescence and his ability to create attention on his matches is like no other in the history in my opinion. I grew up as a Great John Cena fan but probably with the mentality that I have today (smarter) I can notice the gaps that made a great portion of the audience hate him. Overall a Fantastic match ruined in my opinion by the finish, personally I always hated those finish, too gimmicked, to fake, with fake explosions etc I don't despise the Last Man Standing if used well, but many times they invent these things and they make me angry. It is not fault of the Athletes? they did and outstanding job. Probably the second best Cena vs Edge, second only to that fantastic TLC in Toronto. My grade prbably is a 9-."
- Amico Leonard, Cagematch
[9.0] "This was a fantastic action packed brawl that highlighted the great chemistry these two have evolved since their saga began. Inside the ring, it had some spots where it felt a bit overdone but the drama of every near-fall outweighed that feeling and after the splendid AA onto the fans, the action which spilled outside the ring was tremendously done. The finish might've been anti-climatic but it doesn't take anything away from the spot looking super cool. Edge winning added more legitimacy to the ending as well as protecting Cena even though he won the title a month ago. In overall, my second favourite match of this storied rivalry after their Unforgiven classic. 4.5 out of 5 stars!"
- Prince Osborne, Cagematch
"A few years following their classic rivalry over the WWE Title, these two old foes came to blows over the World Heavyweight Championship. John Cena picked up the belt at WrestleMania 25, setting up a Last Man Standing rematch with Edge. It is sometimes hard pacing a match with this stipulation, but the pair did great."

Liv Morgan On John Cena : "Never give up!"
Edge is said to currently be on the last lap of his storied in-ring career but he's still getting it done, sometimes appearing in WWE alongside Beth Phoenix.
... wrestling crushes ... | ... becoming John Cena ...
..
In wrestling today, R-Truth and Liv Morgan have kept themselves busy maintaining and preserving the memory of retiree John Cena, gone but not forgotten. If you want some, come get some!!

I definitely missed some stuff during the Ruthless Aggression Era. I bailed on wrestling for a while after the Invasion Angle. I hated that storyline, Austin walked out on wrestling - I was out for a while minus the odd PPV.

I'm not ready to see him leave just yet, as there's still quite a bit of wrestlers he hasn't faced. I'm still waiting to see him go up against Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, Drew Mcintyre, Bray Wyatt, Brock Lesnar, and John Cena one final time.

Did Stone Cold have a rival for the ages?

I hope Edge continues to wrestle as he looks in good shape, I just fear he's reaching the end due to comments he's made (though he can always do commentary or interviews with his microphone skills). At least he's of a stature that he can pick his opponents at this stage in life, like Christian's been doing while operating as a manager in AEW.
(nice to see you - other site's wrestling board has pretty much ground to a halt!)

Yes. IMDb2 wasn't really the most active site for a wrestling message board, but I noticed the lack of activity got worse over there after the site closed down briefly. It hasn't been the same since unfortunately.
Anyway, i'm glad you're still posting as well.

The Shield have topped the men's side of the PWI 500 for 2023. Seth Rollins tweeted about it. It's quite amazing, really.
I was shocked to see Swerve Strickland and Shinsuke Nakamura at 112 and 113 respectively, behind the likes of Tyrus and Eddie Kingston. I think Strickland's been as good as anybody I've seen in the past year and in Brian 'The Machine' Cage (can't see him ranked this year) he has a formidable partner now in the Mogul Embassy. Cage's former partner Will 'Powerhouse' Hobbs came in at 59 and should also be way higher.
PWI 500 ~ Mens Wrestling : Top 20
1) Seth Rollins 2) Roman Reigns 3) Jon Moxley 4) Gunther 5) El Hijo del Vikingo 6) MJF 7) Kazuchika Okada 8) Orange Cassidy 9) Josh Alexander 10) Cody Rhodes 11) SANADA 12) Claudio Castagnoli 13) Carmelo Hayes 14) Samoa Joe 15) Masha Slamovich 16) Bryan Danielson 17) Will Ospreay 18) Alexander Hammerstone 19) Bobby Lashley 20) Trey Miguel
Austin Theory and Darby Allin are ranked at 45 and 49 respectively. Again, two wrestlers who've been killing it in the ring, should be higher to my mind. Hell, LA Knight's at 130 and Chad Gable's at 338!

^ It is a little surprising to see Nakamura rank so low because he's been in the title picture lately, although I guess he was given the number he got because he's been out of wrestling up until recently.
The Shield to this day are still the talk of wrestling, even if they're on their own path.

Did you see Chad Gable take Gunther to the limit? Gunther was looking to break the Honky Tonk Man's record for longest Intercontinental Championship reign. Now there's talk online of Gunther being the greatest threat to Roman Reigns' title run. Gable was sensational but the Ring General planted him on his head to break him.

There's more than talk of Edge being a potential free agent now. With their recent history of roster cuts under head chair Vince McMahon, perhaps it took the big boss coming back (and a megadeal with UFC) to prompt WWE to unleash immediate action by putting in to practise one of the biggest wrestler release lists of all time. Saudi Arabia favourite Mansoor out, club mascot Dana Brooke (of Cleveland) out, tantric Top Dolla out ... I just hope Emma can return to Impact if she so desires, and Dolph Ziggler can hook up with his brother at AEW (can they get Shelton Benjamin too?) if he doesn't choose to pursue a career in stand-up comedy full time.
WWE Releases (as reported so far)
Mustafa Ali Shelton Benjamin
Rick Boogs Dabba-Kato
Elias Ikeman Jiro
Mace Bryson 'The Dyson' Montana
Madcap Moss Mansoor Matt Riddle
Shanky
Top Dolla Kevin Ventura-Cortez
Dolph Ziggler
Quincy Elliott
Aliyah Brooklyn Barlow
Dana Brooke
Emma Yulisa Leon

Yes. Chad Gable is one hell of an athlete, and Gunther was the right opponent for him to get in the ring with and prove it. I figured he would come up short, but it's all good because he still gave a really good performance.
Gunther vs Roman Reigns would be a pretty good match. They're both undefeated and they're both champions in a successful group, though they're both heels right now and they're on separate shows, so it may be a while before their paths cross(who knows if they'll both still be undefeated by then).
