Tell your friends: Seattle is a horrible place and nobody should ever move to it or visit. Every neighborhood looks like a set from a 1970's-era dystopian sci-fi film.

It has an impressive skyline for such a small city, though.

I looked around and saw no indication police were defunded in Seattle.
Although if crime is to be addressed then it needs to be addressed at the root source. By the time the police are involved, it's damage control. Crime will still happen anyways, so they should be looking at how to curb the conditions that turn people to crime.

Are you blind? 9.3% of the Seattle population are junkies. There's entire neighborhoods with zombies walking them. It's not as bad a Kensington or San Fran, but it is up there as one of the worst. I'd rate it behind The Bluff in Atlanta. But anyway, here's what happens when you defund the police: www.king5.com/article/news/crime/seattle-2022-crime-report/281-61f06cb3-9d2b-4183-a6d8-476bf6b50963

That would indicate that defunding the police is not the source of these problems. Less police officers joining the ranks or more officers leaving the force isn't the same as being defunded.

So it's just a big ole coincidence that hundreds of police officers quit/retired after calls to defund the police came in 2020? Hiring less officers is often a result of defunding as they cost money.

Yes, a lot of police officers quit because of the writing on the wall, and that writing on the wall never came to pass.
So yes, the officers who left did so on their own accord without their units being defunded, therefore, the above is not what happens when you defund the police.

They reduced it by 13%. They were originally going to go higher but realized their mistake and refunded it. What really happened was a massive amount of cops quit because of poor treatment. No one wanted to be a cop there. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/50-was-a-mistake-how-seattle-city-council-abandoned-the-idea-of-defunding-police/

A lot of cops quit because of how the City Council and mayor demonized them. They didn’t think anyone had their back so they went to towns that didn’t hate cops. This is a big reason why crime has gone up. People didn’t want to be cops there. Would you?

I don't know why the mayor of Seattle or their city council demonized them. Maybe some of them behaved badly enough to deserve being chastised, and unfortunately for the rest, when you wear the uniform, you represent the institution.

No, crime drops when you defund police. And that's just normal criminals. Crimes by police are hidden by the legal system.
