No, crime drops when you defund police. And that's just normal criminals. Crimes by police are hidden by the legal system. Of course crimes drop when you defund the police. You can't stop or identify a crime when there's no police to do so.

You can't stop or identify a crime when there's no police to do so. You have confused calls, with actual crime. That's not how crime reporting works.

Sleepless in Seattle inspired someone for the name of a movie for a reason.

A lot of cops quit because of how the City Council and mayor demonized them. They didn’t think anyone had their back so they went to towns that didn’t hate cops. This is a big reason why crime has gone up. People didn’t want to be cops there. Would you? Maybe you had to be there.
I don't know why the mayor of Seattle or their city council demonized them. Maybe some of them behaved badly enough to deserve being chastised, and unfortunately for the rest, when you wear the uniform, you represent the institution.
I’m just glad I wasn’t. Seattle is a city I’ll avoid until they straighten themselves out. I was there twenty years ago. It was okay for a small city but the weather was overcast and drizzling four days in a row in June.

Some behaved badly enough to get a DoJ Consent Order. Still, the municipal government rarely misses an opportunity to engage in inactivity. Anyways, be sure to tell your friends it is an anarchy zone that has arsenic-tainted rain every day.

It's like cancer rates drop when people stop going to the doctor.
Oh, they still die of cancer, mind you. But the official stats and figures look wayyyyyy better.

They'll be disappointed to hear it's not wealthy people with impossibly clever off-the-cuff ripostes like in Frasier.

Simple question for those capable of intellectual honesty - have the Seattle police actually been defunded or not? Yes or no?
I already know the answer of course.

A favourite episode for me was when they tried to do a radio murder mystery with Frasier directing and everything went wrong. At the time it was relentlessly funny, particularly when they went on the air.

Going, or not, to the doctor has no effect on cancer rates, because doctors don't cause cancer. The cancer exists outside the doctor's office. I know, science again, the bane of dittoheads. Let's just talk about the actual thing rather than wrap it up in a broken metaphor.

Wow.........so the death rate doesn't change with or without treatment? Says a lot for doctors and science then, huh?

So it's just a big ole coincidence that hundreds of police officers quit/retired after calls to defund the police came in 2020? Hiring less officers is often a result of defunding as they cost money. Houston being 6th breaks my heart.... Police do not prevent/deter, crime. They aren't obligated to protect you (unless you are in their custody) or stop a crime in progress. They do not know or uphold the Constitution or give a rat's ass about your rights. They are beholden to one thing only -- their paycheck. Very, very, very, often, the police escalate situations to make citizens appear criminal because it increases their power and ego.
