From ‘Nazi’ Bowie to Nixon-lovin’ Brown: six absurd political gaffes from pop stars The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has caused an international row by misreading Russia-Georgia relations, live on stage. But he’s not the first star to stray into controversial territory www.theguardian.com/music/2023/aug/16/pop-stars-absurd-political-gaffes-nazi-bowie-nixon-brown-killers-brandon-flowers-georgiaHadn't heard about this one: David Bowie, 1976 Through the lens of today’s sensibility, it is berserk that David Bowie was allowed to keep his career after the shit he pulled in the mid-70s. There’s a photograph of him appearing to give a Nazi salute outside Victoria station. Although he denied it, his argument wasn’t helped by the cluster of interviews he gave around that same time. In one, he told a reporter he thought “Britain could benefit from a fascist leader”. In another he said: “I believe very strongly in fascism … Adolf Hitler was one of the first rock stars.” Doh!

No Eric Clapton and his racist pro Enoch stuff in the 70's or a drunk Costello calling Ray Charles the "n" word. There's probably too many to mention.
