Any college football fans here besides me? The first games of the season are this weekend - Notre Dame and Navy play in Ireland in the most notable matchup. The first full week is next week.
I’m excited for it, the big question this year is can the Georgia Bulldogs win the title for the 3rd year in a row, that would be unprecedented in the modern era. They are the preseason favorites and have a lot of talent but they do have a new QB.
My prediction for the 4 teams in the playoff is
Georgia Clemson Ohio St USC
This is the last year of the 4 team playoff before it expands to 12 teams next year. I have mixed feelings about the playoff expansion - you will have a couple of teams that haven’t earned the right to play for a title in it each year, but it will be exciting and I like how it incorporates all six of the big bowls in it, plus at home games in the first round will be cool.
Is anyone else here a college football fan? I hope so. I’m excited for the season.

College football’s first full week starts today, games Thursday through Monday.
The most interesting games this week are
LSU/Florida St - from Orlando on Sunday night, a battle of top 10 teams. North Carolina/South Carolina Florida/Utah Boise St/Washington West Virginia/Penn St Colorado/TCU
Not a lot of great games this weekend, not as good of an opening weekend as normal, but still some interesting matchups that I look forward to watching. I’m happy football is back!!

Here's my Final Four
Georgia Ohio State LSU Texas
Ohio State over Texas in the Title Game
Fun teams to watch
Notre Dame - My Heisman pick in Irish QB Sam Hartman. He was awesome at Wake Forest last year and should be even better with better weapons. ND has a tough schedule, hosting Ohio State and USC and a trip to Clemson. They get through that with one loss, they should be playoff candidates. Compared to Georgia and Michigan pathetic nononference schedule.
Penn State - The 25 year reign of Sean Clifford is over as the Lions QB. Five star Drew Allar might be good. They have three probable #1 picks on the roster. Have to finally find a way to beat Michigan and/or Ohio State
Colorado - Prime Time begins in Boulder. Colorado was a complete disaster in 2022. Deion brought in 47 transfers. Not saying the Buffs are playoff ready, but if they get a bowl, any bowl, Sanders is going to be one of the hottest coaches in America. And the five stars will flock to Colorado.
I shouldn't drink the burnt orange Kool-aid of Texas. But Quinn Ewert is the best QB the Horns have had since Colt McCoy, maybe since Vince Young. And, if he gets hurt, the legend of Arch Manning will begin

TheGoodMan19Interesting stuff I just can’t get on the Texas bandwagon - they frequently get overhyped it seems and I don’t trust Sark. They should have a good passing game but losing a great rusher like Bijan Robinson hurts, and there’s just something about them I don’t trust. They could win the Big 12, or they could be a big disappointment, I could see it going either way. I really have no clue who wins the Big 12 but unless a Cinderella season like TCU had last year happens, I don’t see a Big 12 team making the playoffs. LSU I agree is a playoff contender and should have a great team, I didn’t know how Brian Kelly would do at LSU but they are pretty loaded. I agree with you about Penn St - I think they can compete with Ohio St and Michigan this year - I think it’s likely Allar is a better QB than Clifford and they have a good amount of talent. They are a dark horse playoff team. ND looked impressive last week but Navy looked like dog shit. The Irish have a good team but I don’t know if they can beat Clemson, Ohio St and USC, their schedule is brutal. Colorado is a complete unknown - I doubt they’ll make a bowl this season, but I have no idea how many wins to expect. Their team is completely new. I think the PAC 12 is very strong this year, I think USC/Washington/Oregon/Utah are all playoff contenders. And watch out for both Bama and Clemson - no one seems to be picking them but I think they will both be very hungry having missed the playoff last year.

And watch out for both Bama and Clemson - no one seems to be picking them but I think they will both be very hungry having missed the playoff last year. I might be a doofus for trusting Texas. But their QB situation since Colt McCoy has been scattered with missed potential. Colt's little brother, Shane Buechele, Sam Ehrlinger, Hudson Card. But Ewers looked good. And Arch waits in the wings, he's supposed to have more skills than Uncle Peyton. And I think Texas has depended too much on the running game in the past, D'Onta Freeman and Bijan. It's not 1974 anymore.
Clemson might be my #5 team. Cade Klubnik is a worthy successor to Trev Lawrence. Opposite with Alabama. From what I've read, the Tide's QB options are weak.
USC would be my #6. The PAC does have a lot of good teams. It will be tough for Colorado, who was 1-11 last year. But Deion Sanders impressed the living shit out of me at Jackson State. I thought his ego would get in his way and there isn't a great track record for great players becoming great coaches. But Prime Time checked his ego and did a great job at Jackson. If he gets any bowl this year, I'd be very afraid on Colorado

TheGoodMan19Bama’s QB situation is a question mark, but I know they are always loaded with talent and they will be hungry to get back to the playoff after missing it last year. They are always a threat. Clemson has a very good team and I think their QB play will be massively improved. I don’t think Colorado will be very good this year - all of their players are new and you never know how they will adjust. I do look forward to seeing how they do, they open with TCU on Saturday.

Florida looks like shit tonight. Down 17-3 to a Cameron Rising-less Utah

I had a feeling the Gators would be garbage, they are inexperienced and not talented. They may finish last in the SEC East - most of the other SEC teams are trending upwards, not the Gators.

Florida has the 3rd toughest schedule. Doesn't bode well. I remember Graham Mertz at Wisconsin. I thought Ethel Mertz would make a better QB

Graham Mertz has always sucked, that’s for sure. The Gators will be very fortunate if they get to 6-6 once again. I think Napier is gone soon. Nebraska/Minnesota is a good, low scoring game.

I switched to the Nebraska game. Cornhuskers are interesting, nowhere to go but up. Seems odd to see them be so bad. Huskers won 9 or more games every year from 1969 to 2001
